A Molecular Approach to Skin Tone Correction

Uneven skin tone, dark spots, and post-acne marks result from complex biological signaling, including α-MSH stimulation, melanocyte activation, and enzymatic melanin synthesis.

DEMELA™ was developed as a dual-action peptide to cosmetically regulate these processes rather than relying on exfoliation or aggressive suppression alone.
Its mechanism focuses on upstream melanocyte signaling modulation and downstream enzymatic inhibition, supporting gradual, controlled tone normalization.

How DEMELA™ Works

DEMELA™ demonstrates a double blocking effect on melanogenesis:

  • Inhibition of MC-1R (α-MSH receptor) signaling, reflected by reduced intracellular cAMP synthesis
  • Inhibition of tyrosinase activity, a key enzyme involved in melanin production

In mechanistic evaluations, DEMELA™ showed:

  • Significant dose-dependent reduction of cAMP synthesis
  • Greater melanin inhibition efficiency at markedly lower concentrations compared to kojic acid
  • Higher melanin-inhibiting activity than hydroquinone at the same concentration

This dual modulation supports a visible reduction in hyperpigmentation, redness, and uneven tone, while preserving skin tolerance.
